EGG CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Our eggs are not washed. Fresh eggs have a protective coating called a bloom. This seals the pores of the egg and allows no dirt or bacteria to enter. As long as they remain unwashed, these eggs will last AT LEAST several weeks on the counter or AT LEAST several months in the refrigerator.
If you choose to wash your eggs, they need to be put in the refrigerator and consumed within 2 months.
Once eggs are refrigerated, they need to remain there.
** We do also offer washed & refrigerated eggs
for those that prefer**
Eggs are seasonal
Chickens naturally take a break from laying during the wintertime.
They lay based on how many hours of daylight there is.
Commercial operations, as well as many that raise themselves,
use artificial light to force chickens to lay all winter.
We feel that is inhumane and chickens should be able to
follow their natural rhythm. It is also very unsafe to have
artificial light in a coop, causing many fires and deaths to
chickens. Therefore, our eggs will only be available while they are
naturally laying. (We usually have enough excess to sell
April through September).
