Baby has been with us since our very first batch of egg chickens, but she's still a strong layer. She is a Silver Laced Wyandotte and she is definitely top chicken!
Rosie and Gladys are Blue Laced Red Wyandottes. Rosie got her name from the type of comb that she has (as seen in the inset). It's called a Rose Comb.
These are our four Golden Comets. We have Dorothy, Blanche, Sophia, and of course, Betty White on the bottom right.
This is Winnie, our Lavender Orpington. She is beautiful and fluffy. I love the striking contrast of the red combs and wattles to her light grey feathers.
Pepper and Poppy are our Barred Rocked chickens. Poppy watches as I water the garden in the evening. When I'm done she runs right over to see if I've found any tasty snails or beetles on the plants for her.
These girls were hatched this year. They should be laying by the end of the summer. Once they start laying, they will get named and added to our hen bios.
Next year we hope to add more hens that lay blue eggs, some that lay green, and even some that lay a pinkish or purpleish brown egg!
We have two Crested Cream Legbars. They will lay a blue egg.
We have several White Leghorns. They will lay white eggs.
We also have several Black Copper Marans. They will lay a dark brown egg.
